In the southwestern part of Edinburgh lies Pentland Hills Regional Park, a beautiful expanse of hikes and farmland. A great place to visit in this park is Swanston Farm, which is about a 20-minute drive from the center of the city.

4 “near-death” Experiences in Edinburgh
Disclaimer: all of these “near death experiences” are exaggerations- I have, so far, never genuinely feared for my life whilst living in Edinburgh. I actually waited several weeks before writing this post in hopes that I would have a fifth near-death experience, as that would’ve made this a more well-rounded list, but after waiting over a month I guess I’m just too experienced now for those newbie mistakes!
A Bumpy (and Amazing) Road to Edinburgh
There are so many fun events I cannot wait to share with you, but a story would not be complete without its beginning, so let’s go to chapter one.
Edinburgh: a city for student discounts !
I’ve been living in Edinburgh for nearly two months now and I still feel as amazed by the city as I was in week 1. There are simply so many things to do, to see and to taste here that it felt very overwhelming at first because I had no idea how to experience everything,…
Ceilidh Dances, A Manchester United Game, and the Musselburgh Horse Races… OH MY!!!
The first week of February 2022 was one of the busiest, eventful, and exciting weekends of my life. I didn’t plan for it to be a busy weekend but there were a lot of events happening that I didn’t want to miss out on. The festivities began by going to a Ceilidh (pronounced cay-lee) which…
The castle

This is my first blog post so I thought it would be best if I gave a brief introduction and background on myself. My name is Sarah and I was born and raised in Texas (a state in the United States if anyone needs clarification). After graduating from high school, I decided to go off…
Embracing the Chaos and getting settled in
Even thought I am technically not a fresher and I know what fresher´s week feels like (lack of sleep, loads of coffee to compensate for the constant tiredness, running from one event to the other), I was still overwhelmed by the effort Edinburgh puts into such a week. I felt jetlagged even though I only…
Expectations in Edinburgh
As a visiting student, it wasn’t my first time doing Welcome Week. My first “Welcome Week” (or Frosh, as we called it) was years back. I arrived at McGill University never having visited Canada, but was eager to be a university student. I had spent the months before dreaming of what university would mean to…
I’m On Exchange in Edinburgh Part II
“There’s nary an animal alive that can outrun a greased Scotsman” – Groundskeeper Willie in Sweet Seymour Skinner’s Baadassss Song, The Simpsons (1994). I’ve always been hindered by some mass crippling doubt. It started when I was seven. I had just graduated from Stingrays to Dolphins at State Swim and it was time for us…
